Hi,

Since my old laptop is getting quite old I am looking into a new laptop or a really cheap one and building a PC to remote desktop into. Currently I'm just looking into a laptop, and I just wanted to see if anyone had any recommendations. I would like it to have a nice battery life, fast program navigating, the ability to have 40+ chrome tabs open (yes I actually do this sometimes), and to be able to do light gaming (CS:GO). Does anyone have any recommendations?

The below HP s a good buy for the specs. HP website says it is a Full HD (1920 X 1080) display.

Does it have a touch screen? Windows 8 really requires that option, as navigating windows 8 with a touch oaf I could imagine would be one of the worst user experiences. If getting a new laptop, I would highly recommend a touch screen if getting windows 8, unless you are downgrading to windows 7.

HP's website and Noel Leeming's page does not say so so I would say NO to the touchscreen. For the value for money tag, this is good considering the screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 which is hard to come by for $800 budget.

I Haven't use Windows 8 much but the one computer I've used the most with Window 8 doesn't have a touch screen and its no problem without the touch screen

Windows 8.1 and classic shell make a touch screen irrelevant

I prefer Windows 8 over Windows 7 but jesus christ on Windows 8.1 the search is sooooooo slow.

It is fine if you disable metro and install a start menu, but metro on a non touch laptop is painful. Hopefully the proper start menu will get added to 8, and not just added to 9. Windows 8 is slowly improving with each update.
