After installing a BIOS update make sure to check all items are enabled as required in the BIOS settings. If it boots correctly after this and get Internet access then check for new drivers.

Could even be some corruption on the disk have you tried downloading the network drivers on another machine and tried reinstalling them.

I've used HP laptops for a number of years and have also experienced a few OMG moments when performing BIOS updates.  One of the things that helped me the most was ensuring I was physically connected to the router when rebooting, for some reason it didn't like being wireless when it was being flashed.  Hope that helps!

You can get the drivers bios etc from http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4062&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=4204286#N5151 You will need to choose what version of Windows7 you are running.

So find another computer to download them on and copy them over with USB key or CD/DVD.
If the drivers don't work it would probably be worth trying the Bios update again.

Also another option if you have not tried it is to try using the tether option on a phone to get your a temporary internet connection.

Go to the HP website on the previous post, choose the version of Windows 7 you have(32 our 64 bit) bios is one of the options to expand and then choose to download the latest version at the top.
Once downloaded run the file.
