Hi

Fater my Windows laptop died I am serioudly thinkign of getting a Macbook Pro. It comes with a 160GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400 rpm hard drive but has options to upgrade to the following:

a. 200GB Serial ATA Drive @ 4200 rpm
b. 160GB Serial ATA Drive @ 7200 rpm

What would be recomedned bigger capacity\slower drive or lower capacity\faster drive?

Thanks

Personally I wouldn't buy anything with a hard drive slower than 5400rpm, and I think you'd notice a decent performance boost going to 7200rpm.

When I ordered my new Dell notebook during the weekend I swapped the standard 160Gb 5400rpm drive for a 120Gb 7200rpm drive with the price difference only being about $15 (I would never come close to filling a 120Gb capacity). It will be interesting to see how it performs.
