Hi,

I am currently looking for a laptop that I will be using daily at home for browsing, Photoshop and gaming. It is a replacement so unfortunately I can only buy from Noel Leeming which makes my choices limited and I'll probably be spending more than I should. I'm willing to pay up to $2000 if anything cheaper appears to be useless but I'd rather spend around $1500.

I am mostly casual when it comes to games but I would like the opporunity to play things like ArcheAge or Black Desert if I wanted to. I don't expect to run things on the highest settings.

Possible purchases:

$1999

$1799

$1499

They start getting cheaper from there but I don't want to paste too many links.
Most of the specifications go over my head, but it would be nice to get some opinions here.

Thanks.

they should be able to get in any HP or Asus gaming laptop, as they have some higher spec higher price ones there

might pay to ask, is free and you might be able to get something a little better

another thing is what size screen do you want?

if you live in Auckland or Christchurch you could have a look at the clearance centres as they have end of linesetc and some good prices.

That might be a good idea if I can find something else suitable, thanks.
The last laptop I had was 15.6" so around that would be about the minimum I suppose. Bigger would be better if it didn't drop in quality.

I'll try to have a look and hopefully I'm allowed to get a replacement from there. Thank you.

$1799 for a laptop with a 1366x768 screen.  Wow.  Decent phones have better displays

I wouldn't touch anything without at least full HD display unless I was paying around $1k or less.  Especially if your use includes photoshop

I haven't been into any of the stores yet but if I'm needing a full HD display and a suitable graphics card then it probably has to be the HP Envy or Toshiba Satellite.

There is a 17.3" HP Envy 17-K206TX at $2599 which is too much but it is $1886 at Harvey Norman so I am hoping I could possibly price match.
The 15.6" HP Envy 15-K208TX is $1999 at Noel Leeming and $1591.83 at Harvey Norman. The specs appear to be the same at face value so I guess it would come down to which screen I like.

I've heard HP laptops have had problems with overheating in the past but this seems to be the best laptop they have for me at Noel Leeming, unless the Toshiba Satellite P70-B097 is somehow better.

Take a look at the HP Spectre X360. Very good reviews about this laptop - surprising for an HP! Must have upped their game.
