I need to get a cheap laptop for a upcoming trip. Most of the time these days I get by with desktops and a tablet but needs must!

So lets say $300- $700
Has to be 13" or less
I like Macs so a cheap macbook ? If so which one?
or
a almost new pc, again if so which one I prefer Dell/Lenovo/Sony

I use an original Microsoft Surface Pro with touch cover when travelling light.

Grab a Chromebook - I got a Acer one (with 4gb ram) and am really impressed with it.
