Hopefully this post is in the right area!

Just wondering if anyone knows of any places to buy laptops in Japan or Hong Kong? I want to get a pretty high spec HP laptop but refuse to pay NZ prices for one.

I know of Sim Lim Square but I can't get to Singapore, so wondering if there's any good shops in Japan or Hong Kong that people could recommend.

I bought an Acer Aspire 5580 in Singapore at Harvey Norman's near the Raffles Hotel when I was there in July.  Got a load of freebies with it but I don't think I saved that much looking at the prices here.
Mine came with 120 gig drive, 2 gig RAM, Windows Vista and also bought MicroSoft works and extended warranty.  Promotional freebies included mouse, external HDD and USB memory stick.
Whole package came to around NZ$2050 but I declared it coming back into the country and had to fork out another $100 or so GST.  BTW customs won't let you combine duty free allowances if you've got a travelling companion any more.  Luckily they did in our case but those are the new rules.
Finally I still think the best deals are in Hong Kong - I regret not buying a laptop there; it was definitely cheaper than Singapore but can't remember by how much.

cheers

Tim
