My existing Toshiba L650 is playing up the left hinge is sticking and it keeps turning off, so need a replacement would the i5 be better than my i3? it would have to on for 24/7 to keep up my torrents reseeding. Would be interested in an Asus, Lenova or another Toshiba Windows 10 1tb hdd hoping to spend $1,000. Don't want anything fancy as my Toshiba has been good 6 years old,

I think you've identified good brands, but laptops aren't really 24/7 type machines. If it's fixed in one place how about an all-in-one or a desktop? Now you've identified brands you really just need to look at which ones have the features you want at the price you want to pay. An SSD is nice, but would probably mean you don't get 1TB of storage internal.
