Hi there,

 

 

 

I am interested in buying a new laptop. I have selected 3 laptops here and I am unsure which one is the best out of the 3. Would you be able to give me your recommendation for which laptop out the the 3 I selected should I purchase please??

 

 

 

  • ASUS F556UV-XO019T Notebook, 15.6" i5-6200U 8GB DDR4 1TB GT920MX 2GB Graphics Win10Home 
  • Acer Aspire F5-573G-51WN Entertainment Notebook, 15.6" Intel i5-6200U 8GB RAM 1TB HDD DVDRW GT940M 2GB Win10Home 64bit 1yr
  • ASUS X540LJ-DM311T Notebook 15.6" 1080p FullHD Intel i5-5200U 8GB 1TB DVDRW GT920M 1GB Graphics Win10Home 64bit 1yr 

All 3 of these laptops are sold in PB Tech store.

On the specs I would buy the first one. Only because, fairly or not I have avoided Acer for a long time now. Links might be good, there may be other differnces worth considering.

The first Asus is a later generation than the last so that is the reason to pick the first one on spec.

Personally I wouldn't buy anything with less than a full HD screen, which means your option 3 is the only option.

 

I can't see the point of paying a lot of money for a 15" screen that has lower resolution than a half decent phone

its approximately 10% faster/better but probably not noticeable at all in every day use

 

I would rather have the full HD screen

 

I would be buying and installing a SSD for what ever laptop i got

#3, for the screen. CPU is very, very slightly slower than #1. Asus is a good brand. I wouldn't have a computer without an SSD, you can install yourself (maybe) or buy one with one to avoid warranty issues.

I bought an Acer notebook from America last year. After research it best met my requirements, including budget. From the beginning there have been issues with the trackpad freezing. If not for that I would love the computer, but because of that I will never buy another Acer or recommend one to anyone else. Acer, I hope you are listening. Quality control does matter.

Just an observation. It won't matter if you have no intention of ever opening it up or if your confident doing that kind of thing, those warnings about delicate connectors put me off a bit that's all.

I would avoid Acer as well I have here an Acer ASpire V5-525G approx 14 months old. It upgraded to Windows 10 last year fine but one of the updates prior to this years refresh killed it dead. It will not boot. Spent ages on it and even returned it to shop. They now advise that it will only work with Windows 8.1 (Yuck) I checked the Acer website and they say that it will not work with Windows Refresh. I dont understand why and Acer dont seem to know (it is listed as being OK for WIndows 10) it has an adequate processor 12Gb ram reasonable Graphics processor but it will not be supported by WIndows Refresh.

 

I am now looking for a replacement and Acer will not be on my list.

it could be a elcheapo nasty screen ; nasty but in hd .

 

using the phone  analogy above , my lower res phone still looks better than cheap higher res phones screens

 

 

 

Check out some online reviews before buying, I saw one comment on that HD screen scratching very easily.

 

Also, Asus may be good machines, but they are the worst for fulling the thing up with uneeded Crapware (Actually Lenovo are the worst, Asus allmost as bad)
5 separate preinstalls of MS Office Asus, really, 5!! They all have to be slowly uninstalled , thats a long process , plus the Freeware Office suite they pre-installed as well.
So allow some time to manually clean the thing up .frown
And Asus split the HD into 2 partitions , other brands stopped doing that years ago: joe average cant cope with that nonsense .
