Apple have announced the new MacBook Pro overnight. Personally I was expecting more - but what do others think?

The new models are still running Skylake processors, and only the 15" version has discrete graphics. The OLED touch bar is pretty cool, but I am not sure it's a game changer and this doesn't really feel like a major product annoucement.

(Was expecting to find a thread on this already here - so perhaps that's telling).

More of a "meh" factor.

- The intergrated graphics are not really geared towards design professionals just like the rest of their products currently.
- Pricing = stupidly expensive, sure they're MacBooks but this in the high end Surfacebook catagory which has far better graphics performance, processor and a really good stylus.

It would be nice for them to include something like a GTX1070 in these but really it is a MacBook that looks nice and pretty but really doesn't anything that'll outshine the competitors. Worse, it'll take Apple 3 years again to come up with something "new". It seems that Microsoft are really kicking it up a notch where Apple left off by catering for design professionals.

I thought there may have been some changes to the iMac line. I am not sure about the OLED bar will have to see it in action. Really it was a bit of a non event.

The fact my email inbox, twitter timeline or YouTube feed didn't blow up this morning and saw this first on Geekzone means this was really a non event.

This video really hits it on the head when it comes to Apple currently:

I wonder if the CFO is driving innovation at Apple these days.

There is a thread under the apple forum http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=76&topicid=205049

Not sure how they justify those prices so I'll stick with my mid 2014 mbp

I think 2016 is the year I drop apple. Maybe cause for a new topic but anyone know of a good hackintosh laptop with ethernet, 2.5" drive bay, and mSATA connector? I don't think my 2012 Macbook Pro can survive much longer.

They aren't even making screens anymore. They have a 4K LG model listed on their site that is only 21.5" and is AU$1,099 and a 28" for $1,899 which seems insanely expensive compared to other high end UHD+ monitors on the market - and it only has a single Thunderbolt input.

I'm not an Apple person at all, but my wife is and she's been holding out for this, but not sure it was really worth the wait.

No SD card slot. Also no USB slot. So people now need to carry adapters. Do there think People also update their peripherals every year?

The touch base is a gimmick. Far more useful if they just made it into a full touchscreen or a surface like tablet. I don't think they really know where to take it next.

Agreed. I was holding out for this for my sister but having seen what they have done, i recommended to her to get the previous generation which is now about 15% cheaper brand new from Apple. I dont think I would want to carry even more adapters and dongles to connect my 10s of flash drives or HDMI. I would have personally get at least 1 USB3 and the HDMI.

They never made their own. They just shove LG and other brands into aluminium and called it a day.

Now that the MacBook Pro, MacBook is all USB-C, more android phones and chroembooks are moving to it, more and more windows laptops are getting it, USB-A is on the way out. It was a good connector for 20 years.

No point hanging on to it, get an adapter and move on. And make sure anything new you buy is USB-C also

I was really hoping they might increase the storage capacity of the SSD. Guess not.

There is now a 2TB option, but yeah, I know what you mean.
