Hello. Just after some advice.

I am after a tablet that i can use for basic functions. Mainly just youtube and maybe web browsing. I really like the windows 10 platform. I am after a tablet due to convenience.

I saw this one and was wondering if anyone had seen a shop with a better one for the same cost or cheaper? Do not want to spend to much on something that I will not use as my main computer. All the others ones for the price have been 1gb ram and yea.

I am after one 10 inch or bigger

Looks like the same (or similar) one is on sale for $269 at Warehouse Stationary.

Only concerns would be;
Manufacturer support for drivers and the likes can be tricky on generic devices.
Some Microsoft (larger) updates can cause problems due to the lack of storage space. (I used to have a 32GB SSD in a pc and couldn't apply updates due to lack of space)

Depending on where you are, you could check out JB H-iFi in store as my local one had a table of clearance computers on that weren't too badly priced so you could get lucky there

Might have to go in and see if I can have a look at the one at Warehouse Stationery. The "Up to 1.83GHz" for the processor intrigues me. I assume that would be the turbo clock speeds and that it is actually the same as the 1.33GHz one at The Warehouse under normal circumstances...

They are too slow and limited as many people find out so I'd buy nearly new on Trade Me. Some Christmas presents are already being cleared, e.g. this one is like the one you're looking at http://www.trademe.co.nz/computers/laptops/laptops/other/auction-1247204790.htm

I'd much prefer to spend the same money on a second-hand Surface Pro on Trade Me to get a better processor, more memory and more storage space. I'd trade off new & cheap for better quality & used.

I'd go surface pro 2. They are capable machines you can actually get stuff done with. This one is underpriced:

Assuming it comes with a power supply I'd hit buy now immediately.

Weight is 900g which may not suit everyone. For that you get HD etc.

Do Nextbook have a Windows tablet current? Other Nextbook stuff is solid for the price. It's not the cheapest of the cheap but looks like someone put some thought into it.

Thanks for the link, wow didn't think aboup update sizes. To bad the storage is so low. I'm in Auckland so will check out a few of our Jbs for that clearance table.

Fair enough, for myself I dont even know what 1.33/1.83 ghz means. Only things i look at is ram and storage. I know I should know if im buying a comp but

I tried trade me but I want it now! Haha no . I have no issue with second hand at all infact i in alot of cases prefer it as its good quality for cheap prices. The biggest issue I have with trade me is I do not know what is ok, and when it comes to generic atleast the warehouse jb etc have shops. But I have no issue with it.

Been looking at surface pro 2s on trademe but they are $500+ I do not want some peice of crap but cant be to expensive as its just for basic tasks and youtube definitly. Have baby on the way and wife thinks I do not even need it.. but it do I swear.

The various Acer Iconia win10 tablets usually upgraded from 8 can be very cheap on TradeMe. Not all support 10. I'm not sure about the storage and other attributes of those maybe someone else can comment.

That is nice. Ic its semi decent i can stretch the coin. Would this one from.pbtech be better then a surface pro 2

Surface Pro 2 is better in most ways. It's more or less a desktop processor in there, even though it's an earlier generation processor it will outperform the x2 on many tasks.

The cherry trail processor in the x2 has some advantages tho. Newer generation uses less power for things like streaming video and it will do a good job there. Also the overall abilities offered by cherry trail means a lighter machine with equal or better battery life. Weight 600g vs 900g. Makes a big difference for ease of tablet use.

I had 10 on my Surface Pro 2 for approximately a month. I went back to 8.

In 10 I had some random short unresponsiveness and the screen touch calibration would not come right. It's possible these issues were not exactly the fault of 10 or could have been resolved easily. I did not really try.

Anyway personally I would not recommend 10 on Pro 2 but that's only one experience. 8 is fine tho happy as.
