Hey guys, so I've got an Acer laptop and in recent months after turning on and logging into it the screen will goes black for a minute or 2 before going back to normal. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

When the screen goes black sometimes the whole screen is black and other times you can still see the bottom task bar. This only happened if i log into my laptop after starting up the laptop from when its powered off, when i log back in after its been in sleep/stand by mode I have not experienced a black screen before.

I had that on a couple of PCs recently.

They had been supplied with win 8.1 and had upgraded happily to Windows 10 and working ok - then this sort of hanging after login started happening. They were virus free.

I ended up doing the sfc /scannow file system check on them:

It found some things to fix and after that they settled down - It takes a little while to run - but wouldnt do any harm for you to try it.

The other thing is to try and boot into safe mode - that starts up with most drivers/software switched off - so if it starts ok in safe mode - its some software/services taking a long time to finish.:

Ensure all drivers are up to date.

Run a spyware/antivirus scan.

Reinstall the video driver (maybe intel HD gfx?)

Try starting your machine in safe mode..... then if it is working OK, you need to use msconfig (services/tick hide microsoft box)/ task manager (startup tab) , and disable all startup items  --- start enabling them a few at a time/reboot until the problem starts occurring again to isolate the issue.

Otherwise, reinstall windows if it is not too much hassle. Or, i think windows 10 has some kind of recovery function to reinitialise the OS without wiping out programs and data. Not totally sure on that though.

Also had something similar on Acer laptop after upgrade to windows 10 - when resume from sleep/standby it often goes straight back to 'sleep' again.  Then after coming back from sleep again it is fine.
