I'm planning to buy the Lenovo Flex 4 via Amazon, and ship it to NZ via YouShop. Reason is price. It's USD$ 600 there, which is about 880 NZD. YouShop would be about 35 dollar, import duty another 200 dollar. So in total NZD$ 1100, and it's for sale in New Zealand for about $2000....

Only concern, when looking at other topics here, is warranty. Lenovo does have international warranty, I checked that here. However, New Zealand (or Australia) does not appear in the list :(
This seems weird to me?

Any other consideration?

(Batteries for most consumer devices are likely to be under this limit eg. mobile phones, laptops, tablet computers, cameras etc. The Wh rating will be printed on the battery or may be stated in the device manual).

YouShop has rules around Li-ion battery capacity & cell limits. Also you need to add GST as you might get pinged for that.

Also check out if you need an international warranty (if you want) or check out if your warranty will be valid in NZ.

Source: recently got a Dell XPS this way and saved about 1k NZD, including NZ warranty cover, shipping, GST, duty, NZ plug etc

Looking at Acer and Asus as well.

USA 2.4GHz wireless went from channel 1 to Channel 11, where NZ wireless specs allow for up to Channel 13. I've had a client complain their new Macbook would no connect a a wireless network we put in place a few weeks before. Turns out the Access Point had been configured to auto-select a quiet channel and it had selected Channel 13 when it booted up after a power cut. The US-spec Macbook therefore could not see it.

In the end we told the wireless gear it was in the USA so it only auto-selected channels up to 11.

Not a showstopper - just an annoyance that we had not come across before then.

This is an incredibly common problem that's been happening for years, not just on Apple, but many devices.

On Apple devices it's actually a pretty rare issue if you're using decent wireless gear as good decent WiFi gear will support 802.11d which sets a country code in the beacon frame so it knows it can use CH12 and CH13. The problem is the FCC banned 802.11d on US hardware as it allowed people to get around their rules so it's never been something that's become totally mainstream.

Just who was that guy that Lenovo sent out to do the onsite warranty repair then ?
:-)

They will have contractors doing the repairs for them , there will be authorised service agents .
Chances are they wont tell you who they are , unless you are booking a warranty repair & need to drop it off .

Lenovo will probably have a service center here, but it's not listed under IWS (International Warranty Service).

There is no 'electronics' duty as far as I know. ~$50 for IETF and MPI so the rest will have to be GST.

I dealt with them quite a bit a few years ago, all the guys I dealt with were contractors, all their gear and info came out of Australia. One of them said it was a nightmare trying to get the right parts, but I think that was at the time Lenovo had swapped suppliers for components. 2 day turn around for one job I booked turned into 2 months.

Ive worked at 2 companies that did contacted Warranty repair work for various big name IT brands (not lenovo).
It was an absolute joke. You couldnt make a more disorganized half arsed system if you tried .

To do a needed fix on all of the NZ units, they supplied parts to do 2 of them. And that was it , no more .
Bulk Parts would arrive without warning, no paperwork , so no way of knowing what was claimed to be actually sent (when shipping pallet broken)
Parts could actually be faulty. I was sent 5 faulty replacement mb's in a row for a single job .
Head office would lie to customer & tell cust it was our fault it still wasnt fixed yet, when they hadnt shipped us the needed parts (going on months)
Expected to do the parent companies online training/testing. A joke, online training kept crashing . No one checked if anyone had done the required training.

Easy work, but for bugger all money .

I bought a Lenovo laptop from their website. When it arrived it had a faulty fan. I contacted them, it was sent to Auckland, and was sent back repaired quickly - days.
