Following on from  their Windows Tablet/Laptop Huawei have announced entry into the Laptop market with an impressive Windows 10 device. It has very good spec for a 13" and the build looks  nice indeed.

It looks good. I like how they went with a 1440p display, a good balance between image quality and battery life.

Obviously people will say it looks like a Macbook (and it does) but who cares. I do feel like they could have come up with different names for the colours though, Space Grey and Rose Gold, come on :P

The Xiaomi laptops also look good, although only officially available in China. Hopefully these will mean we see a bit less of such HP Spectre / Yoga 900 level premiums charged for these kind of laptops/ convertibles.

I used a Matebook for a few months over Christmas - the Surface clone type, not the laptop.  It was very nice hardware indeed.  The keyboard cover/stand was crap though.  But if using it just as a tablet with pen it was really good.  So this looks like the natural extension of that in laptop/notebook form factor.

That will make it a serious Surface competitor.

It's not a Surface competitor. Both devices are competing against Apple :)

Not in the eyes of someone just looking to buy a Windows device.
