First ever time I've purchase Lenovo Thinkpad Laptop and I get this error on boot-up. Not a great first impression. Spoke to Lenovo Support, but is took about 10 millions times (I'm exaggerating) to get to speak to somebody because the call kept dropping when being put thought to a 'Support Specialist'.

Good for me, no mucking around to 'try this' and 'try that', what I normally get with HP support. I sent the screen shot and got a "Dead on Arrival" reference number. :) Sorted.

Just out of interest, what happens when you press ESC to continue?

Oh, it continues to boot up as normal but I get the error message each time it reboots or a cold boot.

I think the NSA has tampered with it, as it fresh in the country. smile

More likely a Lenovo tech has opened it to add more ram or change a hardrive or something and forgot to reset the security warning in bios.

Somewhere in the Bios you should be able to reset / cancel the warning.

I had a new Lenovo tablet at one of my previous employers, I opened the shrink wrapped box, and in the internal black packaging, someone had "written" with what looked like an eraser, "who are you ?" - so wouldnt surprise me if someones loosened a screw on your system to be annoying :D

Whatever you do, don't send it in to be fixed.

I recently sent my lenovo in to have the display bezel glued down properly, and the SD card slot fixed.

It came back with the bezel peeling off in far more areas, they didn't even fix the SD card slot, and they damaged the qhd display panel as it now has about 300 dead pixels running along the bottom edge of the screen.

Now they are saying they will replace the entire machine but the one they are trying to replace it with only has a 1080p display. So, I said I wanted my qhd display and they said they cannot get the part!

(this is on top of the last time i sent the machine in to have the trackpoint replaced -- they replaced the wrong part (trackpad instead of trackpoint) and broke the speaker)

Since it's was classified as "Dead on arrival" and I asked my supplier to send me a new first so I can use the return to base pickup service.

Make sure the new machine has equal specs ........... with lenovo customer service, if it can go wrong it probably will.

Definitely.

Judging by the amount of Lenovo seconds that come up on grays auctions every week, that is the standard customer service solution.  I got burnt when it got sent for repair, and two months later with no action taken JB hifi gave a refund.
