Time for wife and I to upgrade our ageing laptops - looking to max spec a couple of MBP13 to last us 4-5 years.

Will order from the Apple website, unless there are any brick and mortar stores in Auckland which actually sell MBP13 with 16Gb RAM and 1Tb hard drive?

I couldn't find any, but you guys may know something I don't!

Cheers

I doubt by you’ll find those in stock anywhere.
If you change anything from the default models that Apple offer then it becomes a configured to order model and is rolled off the production line just for you.
Can take 2-3 weeks for them to arrive.
That’s how it is for us at least as an apple reseller.
Might be different if ordered from Apple directly.

Opinions are my own and not the views of my employer.

Thanks for the input...

Yeah, if I spec up on the Apple store site and then add to basket, it reckons they would ship in 3-5 working days, so they must have some in stock fairly locally?

Doesn't ever seem like there is a benefit buying through a reseller either - cost always seems exactly the same?

CTOs usually take about a week or two (depending on when in the cycle you order it) to arrive.

Stores generally only get one Apple shipment a week, so if you order before that shipment is put together and they have the stock, you will get it in that cycle, otherwise, you'll get it in the next.

If you are after the highest spec non CTO, you should be able to find it in stock in Auckland today.

The 3.1GHz 13 inch MBP is the highest spec non-CTO at them moment, and it seems retailers have them in stock:
https://www.jbhifi.co.nz/computers-tablets/laptops/apple/apple-macbook-pro-with-touch-bar-13-inch-512gb-space-grey/335665/ (says limited stock, but available so ring around their stores)
