Here is a weird one: I have an HP tablet running Windows 8.1. I have put a chess game I enjoy on it for a coming trip. The chess game does not respond to the touchpad but requires an arrow key to be pressed to select a piece. The on-screen keyboard does not have a number pad or arrow keys as such, but it does have left and right arrow keys that the chess game responds to correctly. But for the life of me I cannot find any up or down arrow keys or any way to emulate them. So I can move horizontally on the chess board but not vertically.

I have searched several keyboard and mouse emulation programmes, but I cannot find anything to do this simple task. I have not yet tried looking up the scan codes and entering them manually, but that probably wouldn't work anyway because my virtual keyboard is also missing the numpad.

Does anyone have a simple answer for this silly situation?

Try this: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/surface/forum/surfpro-surfhardware/key-board-has-no-up-or-down-arrow/bf67308d-69c8-4afb-84bb-353ea2a88ba6?auth=1

It is for a Surface, but should work for any Windows tablet.

I will try it on my Surface tonight - I had noticed the other day there were no arrows, and I needed them to fill out a 'pre-filled' form on a webpage.

Also works. Thank you both.
