Generally most notebooks it looks around $500+ saving on an import. Of course there are risks.

Which website is generally the best to order from price wise? I dont know if the US has a pricespy type search engine?

Amazon, Newegg, BHPhotoVideo. Manufacturer websites: Dell, Lenovo, HP. (I've ordered from Lenovo USA in the past and got it shipped with a post forwarder.)

Will Amazon ship this to my door, or do I have to use youshop? If I have a friend in the US, is there any way I can get it sent and bypass customs if they use it (not too much lol)?

These are $1k and in NZ $3k. Again, currency and customs doesnt explain why we get so shafted !

Of course make sure you allow for GST, duty etc when calculating your savings.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

I have to use the Global Site correct?

Yeah I factored in GST as about $175 and I think duty is $50?

Thats $1300 for a $3000 notebook, worth it?

I wish there was an easy way to find notebooks that cover international warranty :-) But for $1700 Im prepared to take a risk.

Newegg wouldnt ship to me. I know gear best and bang good do for Xiaomi products.....

I found Gigabyte laptops (like mine) have a 2 year global warranty sticker on the bottom. Probably means nothing but yeh.

Also I have heard from PB Tech reps and others I know of that Acer predators are junk. Do your research.. I went with the Sabre 15 with a 1060 3GB for $2100 or so and it had a 256B NVME SSD over the 128GB on the predator.. If you plan to play Ark... Also 3K for that predator is too much. It was $2100 in PB tech before Xmas..

You will; find that PB Tech will have a good deal on these laptops and maybe $200-$300 more than the offshore counterparts after shipping and taxes then you get the CGA behind you as well. With these finicky nuclear reactors with a tiny heat sink on them you want as much backing as you can get..

Acer predator isnt junk, id give that title to apple and dell.

Have a look at the build and thermals.

Acer have lifted their game a lot. Its not an MSI Titan, but that cost $3500 US.

newegg nz is basically paying the same prices as NZ, looked into them. amazon do have a global site. some things wont ship.

but that cheaper acer for $750 is $2k here. the $1300 predator is $3.3knzd.

choose any brand you want. all are cheaper.

Most important is to check TB3 x4 and gamut over 100% and 300+ nits screen brightness, the rest is luck.

No PB are a LOT more than $200-300 more sorry rofl.

Laptop mag dont hand out 4 star edit choice awards to junk. Go to notebookcheck for 9/10 if you prefer.

My cousin in the states is sending me an Alienware 15 top model minus the UHD screen, i just want an IPS panel for Light Room, I know the gtx1070 is too powerful for the gsync on any game now, but in 2 years it should be about right just when i sell it :-).

has both the TB, 119% sRGB about 320 nits, so is perfect, aside from they really are a desktop replacement.

works out at about $2300.

I guess my point was couldn't you have asked this in your other thread rather than making a new one for each question - because there are lots of questions you can ask about importing laptops. That's all I was wondering. I'm afraid your assumptions about my post count are wrong though. And no, I'm not trying to start something, that was a serious question.

But back to your original post. Personally as I got stung importing something I wouldn't do it myself. I found that when it developed a fault I would have been stung by duties when it was returned from overseas for repair, again. That put me off importing anything electronic after that.

And even more ironic from you Jase, the ultimate trollwarrior.

I may have to use youshop to get the price I want.

Yes I see your point QuickyM, I had just forgotten I created the how to import thread. My apologies.

Things Im watching out for, International Warranty like Asus. Not sure who else but cant be hard to find.
