  • How does the title "urgent help needed" bring visitors in to your thread?
  • Everyone who posts here is looking for help, and for most people it is urgent.
  • Imagine that - 3.2 million threads on GZ all entitled "urgent help please"
  • How about "USA bought laptop - 240v support?"
  • Then, all the people who know about that sort of thing will read the post when they see the title.
I believe most if not all modern laptop power adapters support both voltages, so you can safely plug it in almost anywhere in the world.

If it does support 240v, it will say on the power brick.

HP is pretty good with power adapters - only 3 different types that I am aware of in the last several years. Wont be a problem to get a cheap replacement back here if needed.

Please change the title of your post, and have a nice day.

I have three HP notebooks here, all three from HP USA, and all three work 110 - 240v.

And I have changed the thread subject because as Tony says it makes no sense.

Look at the notebook charger brick.

It should have a voltage rating.

My HP Compaq notebook has a charger with a rating of 100-240V. If this is so, it will run in New Zealand, and all you need is a plug adapter.

If not, you will need a step up transformer.
