I have a Microsoft Surface Laptop 1st Gen i7 with 8Gb RAM and 256Gb storage.  I recently purchased a Dell S3221QS 32" curved 4k monitor.  I have the laptop connected to the monitor via a MinDisplay Port to DisplayPort cable - I purchased the recommended Cable Matters Cable from Amazon.

The issue is that at 3840 x 2160 60Hz I get a lot of screen blanking - the screen just goes black for a second.  Regularly happens when scrolling using a browser, when opening or closing windows.  If I am running Spotify on the Laptop with sound out of the monitor speakers, the sound will stop when the screen goes blank.  I have spoken with Dell - it's a Microsoft issue, I have updated the drivers, I have spoken with Microsoft who when through various options and even at their recommendation, did a complete reinstall of Windows 10.  The problem still persists.  Often after making some changes the device will operate ok for a couple of hours and then the problem comes back.  I have also researched the issue online but most posts are on issues with running two monitors.

Has anyone had a similar issue and managed to fix it?
