We love to moan, but just for a change, some pleasant news.

I have bought 2 Dell laptops in the last year – XPS 15” & 17”. No problems with the 15”, but the 17” almost immediately developed an intermittent total battery drain when shutdown, normally at night. There was the normal to and fro with Dell as intermittent issues do take time to sort out, but in the end it was obviously a hardware issue and Dell said they would ship a new laptop. Two weeks later the custom laptop arrived and I was able to transfer data and ship the new-faulty one back.

Although it took time, it was nice to have a responsive Dell support and a new laptop shipped and received before I had to send the faulty one back again.

Jeez, this sounds like and advert, but no, it’s not. And they have both been working fine for the last few months.

Nokia 6110, 6210, 6234, Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1, Huawei Ideos X5 (Windows Mobile), Samsung Galaxy SIII, LG G4, OnePlus 5, iPhone Xs Max (briefly), S21 Ultra. And I thought I hadn't had many phones - but the first one around 1997.

We use their business products at work, and warranty support on them, when needed, has been great.

I'm not sure if the XPS has a better 'class' of warranty than their other consumer models. Their business models have a great warranty.

We've found Dell's warranty support excellent in NZ.
