Hi guys,

Looking to upgrade to the new M1 and am thinking about selling my Late 2019 15" Macbook Pro.

Specs are:

15-inch 2019

2.6GHz 6-Core i7

16GB DDR4

https://support.apple.com/kb/SP794?locale=en_US

I know that these have really devalued with the M1 processors kicking so much ass.

What would be the best way to sell this and where?

Nga mihi

Linux: Trademe $1 reserve and let the market set the price

I'm always worried that somehow the listing won't get bids and somehow it gets sold for $50.

You want as much as possible and buyers want to pay as little as possible

I would run it for 10 days and make sure you select the promote option or whatever its called.

My guess is its 50% of what you paid for it.

I would do this ^ but have a think about what you realistically expect it might be worth (you must have some idea) - then set the Start Price lower than that but at a figure you'd be reasonably happy with, and with Reserve same as Start.

Some of the Promote options include two further free listings if it doesn't sell - I'd do that too. At the amount of money you're probably looking at, it's worth paying for one of the higher-cost Promote options. You can also offer it at a fixed price later if it doesn't sell.

Trademe quick search MBP 15" 2019

IMO $1 reserve is poor advice in this case.

Apart from Trademe, once you work out what you think it would go for, you could put it on the 'For Sale & Wanted' thread here on GZ. You'll need to state a price - set it below what you would set on TM because you would be saving all the TM fees. Do this first and if not successful, then go to TM.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

$1 reserve ....... dont
Only do that if you are willing to sell it for far far less than its worth  . Because that can happen . I learnt the hard way .

Have a look on trademe & see how much they ACTUALLY SELL for, not what sellers may think they are worth.
You can search in expired listings.

The other question is, how long are you willing to wait to find a buyer ?
Also, if a buyer can afford $800+ , they can probably afford a new one instead .

Still looks like quite a beast, maybe compare it with a similar Windows laptop? I think people would be happy to pay more that $1000, for instance a similar new MacBook Air still selling at $2400  https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/NBKAPP13551272/Apple-13-Macbook-Air-Retina-Silver---Intel-i7-Quad
