Hi there i am wondering why this product does not give me all my ram: Shouldn't you get to see all your ram when you install a 64-bit Vista (Home Premium)? Apparently not always as freitasm pointed out before. ARRRGH

In the preinstalled 32-bit version, 2GB ram shows as 1.93GB, and 3GB ram shows as 2.86GB. Installing 64-bit vista versions did not give me the 2.99GB ram as i hoped for. Does that mean there's no point getting 4GB of ram as the hardware is a limiting factor for even the 64-bit versions to recognise all the ram?

I tried for brain sake also installed without licence 64-bit business and ultimate versions and then wiping them - no change.

I know in the states their VGN-NS-es do come in 64-bit vistas ... hmm.

Try a BIOS upgrade, I had an Acer laptop that would only recognise 2.8GB of 4GB until they released a BIOS update that allowed it to see the full 4GB.

ah so it is the hardware. there is no bios upgrade at the moment, so i'll have to complain to sony and hopefully we'll see something in the future - all's not lost and it's not me doing something wrong :)

thanks for the acer info sharing
