Given the chip shortages we have- how accurate are Apple's estimates?

The standard (popular) specs they have for their MBP lines are estimated at 2-3 weeks, while CTO (Custom) orders seem to take it out to 6-8 weeks - quite a long lead time..!

How accurate these at the moment? has anyone purchased a CTO device from apple recently to speak from experience?

Even pre-Covid it was sometimes not uncommon to experience 6-8 weeks gap for CTO.

You're more likely to experience delays with the courier.

I ordered a CTO MacBook Pro (the new ones) on 02/11/21, was given an ETA of 29/11/2021 – 06/12/2021, and it arrived on 04/12/21. It should have arrived on 03/12/21 (a Friday) but DHL were slammed so it sat in the local delivery depot for a night and then showed up the next day (Saturday).

So yes, I would say Apple's delivery estimates are very accurate.
