Hi,

I'm a new user and just wondering if anyone could help me out;

I'm wanting to upgrade my HP nx6120 notebook and as far as I can see (HP website) a 100GB 5400rpm HDD is the max it will support. I'm wondering if this was the biggest HDD at the time and that's why it is labelled the max or if it is the true max it will support. I've called HP tech support who told me 80GB which I don't think is correct at all. All though I have read on forums that it should accept 120GB 5400rpm...........

I am also upgrading the RAM, and I'm pretty sure the max it will support is 2 GB (1x 2 GB) of DDR333 PC2700. Can someone please confirm that this laptop will not run on DDR2? as it's quite alot cheaper not to mention faster.

You can stick in any size hard drive that'll fit into that one. Cant remember if their SATA or PATA though. As for the ram you'll need DDR333/400 to get it to work. Definately wont work with DDR2. I would recommend testing the ram in a shop before forking out your money though as Ive had a few compatibilty problems with those models in the past..

Thanks for your advice on that, guess I'll go for the most resonably priced drive over 100GB then. I think I may just ask that the RAM will work on the laptop and make sure I can return it if it doesn't as it's half the price buying it online then down here in Wellington. Seems expensive for what it is though $50 per stick haha.
