hi,
my dad purchased a campaq presario f500 this morning from cash converters and when we got home we found that the wireless didn't show up on the computer yet there was a switch for and all the drivers, upon goin into the bios menu we see it has been disabled but re-enabling it has done nothing, any ideas would be much appreciated.

It's dead - either the card or the motherboard-wireless chip interface.

See my blog post
. I've got the same model series laptop.

Well - you will need a motherboard replacement then.

Yep, agreed.  Take it back to the shop for a refund.  A motherboard replacement would cost many times the price your Dad bought the computer for - if Compaq even still has the parts for it.
