Is there anyone on here with this laptop?

Dell are upgrading me free of charge (from a StudioXPS16) to this new Alienware.

I just want to get a general idea on how it performs etc for most things (I'll end up doing things like web design and such and maybe some graphics work later down the line)

Personally, it's going to be a real cow lugging 5.x KG a day around school, but hey, its free.

I might even look at swapping it out with someone for a new MBP with some relatively good specs, because in all honesty, this machine is WAY over kill for what I need.

I think not!

Such a power sucking machine, doing word/spreadsheets :P what a waste.

and then the weight + the huge a*s powerpack.

I think I'll be more afraid of breaking my back than I will about dropping the darned thing.

Yeah thats what I was thinking.

Would be even easier if someone had a Macbookpro that they didnt want lol.

But we'll see. Might advertise it at a LAN party. Im sure someone will snap it up quickly.

Nice upgrade :)

Interestingly, I had a work colleague who purchased a sleek 17" MBP. He felt that was heavy (let alone something like an M17x).

LOL the 17" MBP has nothing on this beast!

the Studio XPS 16 is actually pretty heavy also for what it is,
I think its either heavier, or equal to, the Studio 17 - But I think thats because the body of the XPS16 is aluminum, whereas t he Studio17 is plastic mostly. (except the chassis)

UPDATE:

I have finally got the specs for the machine (it should be here shortly);

-Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo Processor T9600 (2.80GHz/ 1066 FSB/ 6MB Cache)

Operating System -Genuine Windows Vista(R) Ultimate 64-bit SP1 Edition (English)

Software -Microsoft(R) Office Professional 2007 OEM Version (English)

Video Card -SLI(TM) Dual 1GB GDDR3 NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) GTX 260M

Hard Drives -640GB 7200RPM SATA RAID 0 (2 x 320GB)

Internal Optical Drive -8X DVD + /-RW Drive with DVD + R double layer write capability

Memory -4GB Dual-channel 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM (2 x 2GB)

Bluetooth Module -Dell(TM) Wireless 370 Bluetooth Internal mini-card

So anyone got a new MacBookPro 15" that they want to swap, let me know, and I would be happy to discuss.
