Does anybody know if the DisplayPort on a Dell studio xps is capable of producing and passing a DVI signal through the DisplayPort to an external monitor?

I want to order a cable from the US as i can't find a suppler here in NZ, but I need to find out about above first before paying for the item and postage.

Thanks

DisplayPort is as digital as DVI and HDMI, and the pin signals are inter-compatible between DisplayPort, DVI and HDMI and also support analog connection as well. As long as the right DisplayPort converter is used.
