Hiya all i've got a new Dell XPS with HD 5730.
When i tried to install mobility 5xxx driver from ATI, there was no warning DURING install. But post install all kinds of errors logged and now the screen is 800x600. Rolling back driver didnt work.

Any ideas how i can remove the dell driver AND allow installation of a new standard driver?

Many thanks.

well turns out that mobility radeon drivers are reference drivers that have "install verification software" which means it wont install if it detects that dell has claimed authority over my system. shall i return for a refund??

or is there a bypass - google didnt seem to think it can be bypassed. anyone?

Interesting. I have a Dell Zino HD with Mobility Radeon card (used as my HTPC) and had no problem installing the reference drivers.

What a pain!

what a pain alright! did a clean install on new partition and installs fine - and can then (obviously) play dvb-t without jitter.
