Hi all,

Hoping someone could give me some pointers here. I have several issues. I just acquired a laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium. At first, the wireless network card couldn't find my own home wireless network but then I realised it was because it was hidden. Then I changed the modem's security setting so that it now broadcast the network name. My laptop could find it but was unable to connect after typing in the paraphrase key.

I realised that I had set it so that "New Stations are allowed via Registration". I changed this to "New Stations are allowed automatically" and it worked. The modem is Thomson TG585v7 (one you'd get from Telecom). When I changed this setting back to "allowed via Registration" the laptop immediately lost connection. I don't understand why. Theoretically it is no longer a "new station" right? Ok well this is the first problem.

I thought I'd leave the setting as "allow automatically" because the network should still be safe due to the paraphrase key. I also hid the network again. Now my second problem is that every time I shut down the laptop and/or restarted it, it couldn't find the network again. I would have to make the network visible again before it could find it. It should be able to connect to it automatically. What do I need to do?

Other laptops in the household can re-connect to the network just fine (while the network is hidden) after shutting down and starting up etc (one running Vista, the other 7 Home Premium like mine).

Thanks in advance!

Dont worry, got it resolved :)

For those who are as silly as me the resolution is that you go to the Wireless Network Connection Status, then Wireless Properties, then tick the box that says "Connect even if the network is not broadcasting its name (SSID)".
