Looking at buying a new laptop computer.
I am a big Lenovo fan and want to purchase another one.

Not after a particularly high spec machine.

Lenovo's website list an L512 at $1960.04NZD

Looking at lenovo Japan - the exact same computer with English OS and keyboard is 59000yen - approximately $900NZD

That is less than half the price for the exact same computer shipping from the same factory.

Lenovo Australia currently have the same computer on sale for $889AUD

lenovo seems to be absolutely ripping New Zealanders off.

Of course I will have my Japanese wife make a purchase from lenovo Japan for me.

Thats New Zealand for you. Did you also add import and all other taxes to those prices? Those have to be accounted for

not if I crack open the box when in japan in a few weeks and bring it back as carry-on onboard the plane.

I think tardtasticx meant in the final NZ retail price, not what youll potentially get pinged for.

Does seem a tad expensive tho esepcially since AU is getting is pretty damn cheap as such, but altho, different market, might be some large purchase price deal they got.

The price difference is astounding. But how does Lenovo stay price competitive at this rate? Are other brands are doing the same too?
