Curious to know if there has been much notice of electronic devices failing due to power fluctuations in Christchurch after the Feb earthquake.
I've had the mains adapter for Toshiba laptop go 'pop' and no longer working. There was no outage or brown out at the time. And no other device at home has failed. I suspect the fault is unrelated to the quake and more likely to be due to early component failure, but the retailer may claim it is quake damage and should be an insurance claim.
I'd like to know if there have been other reports of electronic faults as this may suggest one way or the other what is 'typical'.
