Hi,

I have just been provided a rather dated tablet PC (HP TC4200) but it is missing the stylus. A search on the net didn't throw up any obvious suppliers of a replacement (no joy on the HP NZ website which pointed me towards iPaq stylus only) but did suggest that any Wacom Penabled stylus would work.

Does anyone know where I could source a stylus that will work with the TC4200?

www.ascent.co.nz lists some Wacom pen replacements...

Thanks for the quick reply however more questions sorry.....

They are my online shop of choice usually and have had a look there - they certainly have plenty of Wacom pens.....I'm just not sure if they are compatible with my tablet. Some of the websites suggested that "Wacom penabled" was different from simply a Wacom pen

I think the first generation Windows Tablet PC's used Wacom's technology including the HP and the Toshiba tablets. I have a Toshiba R400 tablet PC (the Vista launch notebook computer) that I replaced the supplied pen with a stylus from Cross (has a nicer feel in the hand and is more like a pen). The Cross pen uses the same Wacom technology.

The advantage of the Wacom technology is that the pen doesn't actually have to touch the surface - you can move the pointer the around by hovering above the screen. The fact that it relies on a Wacom technology rather than some touch (resistive or capacitive) technology, is that you can rest your hand on the tablet and not cause the cursor or stylus to move, essential IMHO for a tablet PC where you are actually writing on the surface as if it were a piece of paper as opposed to something like smartphone or iPad where you are using touch mainly to select segments of the screen.
