Hi there,

I've a HP G62 laptop that has a socketed CPU and a quick bit of googling reveals it's a piece of cake to swap the CPU for a bigger, better, faster one :-)

but ...

Where can I buy mobile CPUs from in New Zealand ?

I'd quite like to get an i7-640m

Thanks

Mark

No idea. HP might give you an ok price (they are not too bad on memory for instance) but most likely you will need to quote them a model number of a laptop which uses that cpu and socket type.

What socket is it?

I've never found a good supplier in NZ, but have had good luck buying a few CPU's from Ebay, price wise it seems advantageous compared to buying from a retailer, have never bought ES or QS versions though- only retail chips.
