This is for Australia and New Zealand Toshiba AT100 owners.

Background: The Toshiba AT100 (Thrive) Tablet is being sold in Australia and New Zealand with Honeycomb 3.0 installed which causes 'wake from sleep' and random reboots with this Tablet. Toshiba Australia and New Zealand have on their website that the 3.1 update will be available on 6th of October, thatwas only loaded after numerous complaints and some pulicity about the problems with honeycomb 3.0 in some tech magazines.

I originally called the Toshiba help line/Contact centre and was told I HAD TO take the tablet to a service centre to get the upgrade to 3.1; THey could not give any answer why ity was not available OTA for customers but service centres had 3.1. They also told me i would only take an hour or so to install 3.1; When I got to the Wellington Service centre they said I should never have been told they could do the upgrade in an hour, they needed to have my AT100 for FIVE to SEVEN business DAYS!!!

I decided I would wait for the OTA update on 6th of October.

Today is the 6th of October:
I called the contact centre at 05:45pm and why is the Honeycomb 3.1 update for the Toshiba AT100 Tablet NOT AVAILABLE to Australian and New Zealand customers to download through the TSS on their Tablets as advised on the website?
The first person I spoke to (Glen) flat out lied to me, and tried to tell me it would be available today 6th October, as the website says, but said no where in the world could it be downloaded and installed by customers! When I asked to speak to a team leader, he hung up on me.

I called back and got Suresh, who told me the update would NOT be available to download and that I needed to take the tablet to a service centre to get the update. When I told him the web site said it would be available TODAY 6th October for customers to download and install he said it was not available no matter what the website said.

I then asked to speak to a team leader, he said his team leader would tell me the same but enventually said he would try to get a team leader on the phone to talk to me.

After a while Suresh came back on the phone and said his team leader would NOT TALK TO ME, and refused to give me his team leaders name.

I said I wanted to lodge a complaint about his and Glen's appalling customer service, and he said he could only take my name and request Customer Relations will call me, but said the current 'wait time' for a telephone call from customer relations was ONE WEEK!!!! He refused to give me his team leaders name, and refused to transfer me through, and did not seem to know anything about the update.

So Australian and New Zealand AT100 owners, it looks like Toshiba have been lying to us. (again) And if you dont want to ROOT your AT100, and dont want to take it to a service centre and wait for days to get it upgraded to 3.1, we're stuck with 3.0!

Tomorrow my AT100 may may be going back to the shop I bought from and I'll get my money back.

AT100 Toshiba Tablet upgrade from Android V3.0 to V3.1 now availableToshiba Australia understands that some customers have been experiencing sleep/resume issues with their AT100 Toshiba Tablet V3.0.

This has been caused by an industry-wide software issue and Toshiba has been working closely with its software partner to develop a solution.

Customers who own an AT100 Toshiba Tablet and have been experiencing issues, can now upgrade their Android platform from V3.0 to V3.1 in one of the following ways:

1. Upgrade via Toshiba Mobilecare
• Customers can bring their AT100 series Tablet to any of Toshiba’s Mobilecare service centres by booking a standard warranty repair free of charge

• Toshiba has one mobile care centre nationally. See below for the specific location

• If customers are unable to get to a Toshiba Mobilecare service centre in person, they can post or courier their Tablet to a service centre. Customers will need to arrange their own postage/courier and insurance for delivery of the Tablet to the service centre however, Toshiba will cover the cost of return one-way freight.

• Customers need to book the service online where they will receive a service reference number. Go to: www.toshibamobilecare.co.nz

• Service is estimated to take 3-5 business days for metro deliveries and 5-7 days for regional deliveries.

* Disclaimer - by upgrading you agree to all the terms and conditions (including these terms and any third party terms and conditions) referred to in the upgrade & service process.
This upgrade will impact on your data and settings. You MUST backup all your data and settings if you wish to retain these. Toshiba accepts no responsibility for any loss of data.

IMPORTANT ADVICE:
• The upgrade to Android V3.1 will return the operating system to an out of the box state with current user data and settings removed. All customers MUST back-up their data to an external storage device such as a USB or SD card before the Tablet is sent to the Mobilecare service centre

• Customers will need to reinstall their data when the Tablet is returned

• Toshiba will not retain data from individual Tablets

• Applications purchased through the Android Marketplace should be able to be reinstalled when you log back into your Personal User details in the Marketplace

2. Over the Air (OTA) upgrade
• Toshiba is working with its software partner to make an Over the Air upgrade available as soon as possible

This is expected to be available around the 6th October 2011

• Customers will be alerted to the upgrade* via the Toshiba Service Station (TSS) app on their Tablet as soon as it is available  (*requires TSS registration)

Customers can contact Toshiba Support on 0800 445 439 for further information or go to www.mytoshiba.co.nz/support.

* Disclaimer - the OTA upgrade will require a large download from the internet (up to 500Mb). You must ensure that your internet connection is capable of this size download. Toshiba will not be liable for any Internet Service Provider charges for the file download.
By upgrading you agree to all the terms and conditions (including these terms and any third party terms and conditions) referred to in the OTA upgrade process that will be announced at the time of release.

Last night I checked and the ota update to android 3.1 was there. It is a 2 step update.  After the update it shows as version  3.1.13.5.0004 in the update manager.
Hoping it fixes the occasional refuse to wake up after sleep and random reboots.

After updating there is a sofkey update available that didnt show up before.

All data stays intact with no loss

Yes, I was notified about it By Toshiba at 06:45pm last night. I got my update done at the Wellington Service Centre last week. It took them two attempts though, They didn't check the first update, and it didn't work properly. the second attempt did.

Are you sure it's 3.1.13.5.0004 and not 3.1.03.5.0004?

My update is 3.1.03.5.0006
