Ive had this laptop for a while but its not really a laptop as such. its always stuck on my desk as its got 4 external hdd's plugged into it which i use everyday. I was wondering if anyone has come across a wirless usb hub where i can plug in all the hard drives and make it wireless so i can actually use the laptop around the house while accessing the external hard drive? or if theres any other alternatives out there?
A NAS (network area storage) device sounds like it would be a good fit to your needs The Mac Airport is one of those, and there are others available too, e.g. http://www.pbtech.co.nz/index.php?z=p&p=HDDSEA2200 or http://pricespy.co.nz/product.php?p=733242 (hdd drives not included). You can connect it to your wireless router and then access your files there. You would need to transfer the files from your external hdd's into the NAS's internal hdds. The modem routers in the post above, which allow you to connect external drives to generally only allow you to connect a single drive, so you may find you run out of storage, unless 1TB /2TB is enough.
