Hi there on the 31st of last year wow sounds like ages ago, my laptop stop booting up and I guess Im making this post to see if anyone here have any ideas on how to trouble shoot the laptop.

I got a Toshiba A210

Problem:
does not boot.

charger and battery are fine....and I also test it the hard drive and it is ok

This is what happens when I press the power button.

power on, battery and power adapter connected lights are on when I press on button however the hard drive light never turns on and no image on the screen but when I lift the laptop sounds on as I can see the cpu fan on.

So there is power going to motherboard as it is powering the cpu fan but no image and no hard drive activity.

according to your experience what could be causing this problem?
I cant diagnose the issue as no bios image and no beeping.

Have you tried attaching an external monitor to it to see if anything comes up?

Could also try removing the sticks of ram and see if there is a faulty chip.

Could also try removing the battery and power for a while and see if that makes a difference.

i connected a external monitor and nothing.

i took battery and used only cable and nothing

i will try tomorrow the ram otherwise I may have to open the laptop.

If the ram is faulty, you could try and swap the CPU out for another one? Otherwise it's probably a safe bet that the motherboard is fried. My Compaq laptop did this a couple of years ago and had the exact same symptoms as yours.

Take it to a computer repair shop and see if they do free quotes on repairs. A few within range of my house do, so hopefully they will have a look for you and give you a definite answer. Most likely it'll be cheaper to upgrade to a new computer, in which case you should decide if you want to look at getting it done under warranty. How old is the computer? If its over a year, how old still? You might be able to do something about it under the CGA. Could save you quote a lot of $$
