As the title says, I've plugged in an AOC external monitor to my laptop using the hdmi port, and now it displays a partially transparent white box on the upper left corner. I've:
-turned both on and off again
- swapped hdmi cables
-changed to different port on the monitor

Has anybody had anything similar to this or seen it anywhere?
The laptop is running windows 7 64 bit, using an nvidia chipset.

Thanks in advance.

I've tried the same laptop in another hd screen and the white box isn't present there, would this be some sort of issue with the monitor?

Right I feel like a complete twat now.
After your suggestion I went through the screen menu, abd there was a function called "bright frame" in the Picture boost menu that I had turned on....... feeling rather dumb right about now.
But thanks for th eadvice, it prompted me to have a further look lol.
