My work has saddled me with one of these, and I can't connect it to my home WiFi network. It SEES the network, as in this image


but it can't connect to it. My network is WPA/2-PSK, I don't know if there's any significance to the fact that the Acer doesn't report the security type after "Security-enabled network"

I've tried manually entering the settings in Control Panel>Network Connections>Wireless Network Connections>Properies>Wireless Networks>Properties but there I run into  another  problem. When I change the network type to WPA-PSK, I enter my 16-character passphrase, but it simply will not stick. It always reverts to an 8-character key, as in this shot:


The shot shows TKIP, but it doesn't matter if the encryption type is AES, same result. I've  turned WPS off in case that made a difference, but it didn't. Any suggestions on how to fix this would be very much appreciated.
