Harvey Norman are currently doing a 'buy one laptop, get the second half price' and I wondered if there are any recommendations from people here as to some good laptops.

http://www.harveynorman.co.nz/half-price-notebooks.html

Probably looking at a 15.6" screen, but doesn't need to be anything fancy. Probably most important thing is that it's going to last 3 - 4 years.

Anyone got a couple of model recommendations worth checking out?

TIA

Thanks Matt, currently running an Asus which has served very well but getting a little long in the tooth. My sister in law is also looking at a new laptop so we thought we could split the difference.

Probably just a case of going in and seeing what they have in stock.

Haha fail!??
The small print says Limit 1 per customer so how do you get the 2nd one at half price? :)

Opinions are my own and not the views of my employer.

By the way, 3rd generation processors are due out next month - codenamed Ivy Bridge. You may want to hold off, and wait for a sale to get your bargains.

Hold off how much? Just till next month?
Or like three or six months?

Yep, or 1.5 months. Well worth it - improved integrated graphics as well as more efficient and slightly more powerful processors.

But if you aren't into high performance gaming or multimedia editing, buying now won't harm too much :)
