this message is to telecom ceo paul reynolds. hopefully you read this dude.

come on telecom why don't you increase at the least, the data cap on the explorer $49.95 plan from 6gb to 20gb. if i switch to vodafone broadband i can get max upload and max download with a 20gb cap for only $49 a month. why is it that vodafone can offer 20gb and full speed up and down for $49 a month when you can only offer 6gb for $49.95? and why can't you make the explorer plan full speed up and down, because vodafone is doing it.

here is what your new xtra broadband plans should look like at the very least paul:

explorer $49.95 20gb monthly data cap

adventure $59.95 25gb monthly data cap

once alot of people find out about vodafone's new broadband plan i am sure alot of xtra users will be switching from xtra to vodafone.

You would be better off addressing this to Telecom Retail marketing and product management.

Firstly i dont think hes ever going to reading that, sorry to say.

And on a lot of users switching to vodafone, the biggest reason i'd say for people staying on xtra is email address, probably shortly followed by phone bill (ie with 1 company, which they have always used) or something. Another reason is that they are simply happy with what they have and are unaware that there are better deals out there.

Almost every other ISP offers a better deal than Xtra at almost every price point. Yes vodafone has finally set the new low, but i dont think its going to change much as there has always been a better deal.

This might be starting to get bias, but i'd even go as far as saying i dont think xtra actually needs to be competitive, for the reasons above. Its like the default ISP pretty much.

Richgamer - I think your points are valid, and Xtra plans could be better, and as a consumer you can just change ISP for whatever reason you like.

Product variation and price are not the only ways to compete in the market.

In my experience Telecom/Xtra tend to come to the party in one way or another... eventually.

If you are making comparisons on price alone, you will find that there is a variance throughout ISPs in New Zealand just like with any other service. What you need to take into consideration are the other benefits the ISP can offer.

For example as an Xtra customer, you'll receive:
- a reliable internet connection
- a range of plans to choose from, to suit different kiwi lifestyles
- no penalties when you change your plan, and you can change your plan online at any time (one change per calendar month)
- expert helpdesk available free of charge, 24 hours a day 7 days a week
- convenient billing on your monthly Telecom account
- web based email so you can check your Xtra email account from any internet connection worldwide
- use of the 400+ wireless hotspots throughout New Zealand

In addition, all Xtra customers have access to the free Yahoo!Xtra Bubble. Bubble offers many exclusive benefits to our customers, such as unlimited email storage, the facility to share files and upload photos, and a customisable home page. This makes our customers' online experience much more personalised, and we have received some fantastic feedback about it.

More information about Yahoo!Xtra Bubble is available online at http://www.yourbubble.co.nz/.

i've complained about datacap few weeks ago
and it's what they have to say.

except for those wireless spot, most of isp offer same services i reckon
no more hope for telecum

The Bubble is exclusive to Xtra.

In these forums we use the company name. How can you demand respect if you don't give it? Next time you are banned .
