I was about to leave spark as their data plans for my mobile were less than I could get from other providers. Then rollover data finally started. I had a conversation with spark and agreed to stay as they would give me 1gig of bonus data each month for the next 12 months.

In my head, I though, great, I might use about 1.5G a month so should expect to see the rolled over data grow quickly.

It hasn't

I looked at my usage yesterday,  My rollover data had used about 400Mb and my bonus data had used none.  the roll over data was going to expire in 10 days and the bonus data was going to expire in 16 days (this bit appears to be important)

My expectation was that any bonus data would be used first, then my rollover data, then any rolled over data that I had banked.

The way they do it means I will never use my bonus data up in a month. The AD man who thought this up must have been smiling "lets make it look like we are giving them something, when actually we are not"

a quote from the chat with spark:

00:29:40 ***** : thanks for waiting there. I've just checked your plan and your bonus data extra, and the way that it works is that the data gets used in order of expiry. Your plan data is due to rollover first, so it gets used first, and then the bonus data would get used. I'm just checking to see how that would work when the rollover accumulation hasn't reached maximum though.

I am waiting for an explaination as to why they think it should work this way.

Rollover data / minutes are capped on Spark and Vodafone you can only carryover 3.5GB of data and 500 minutes

2Degrees is the best offer in the market of 12 months carryover and it's not capped, I have like 24GB of data and many 100's of minutes

Why even tell me that, it has nothing to do with what I am talking about. I wasn't expecting another ad man to come to the party here :-(  I agree that capping at 3.5 gig is useless on Sparks part, but if I want to complain about that I would start or find a different post.

Just move to Skinny. Same great network, no cap on rollover data, and data used up in the order you'd expect.

Oh sorry. I shouldn't have replied. I didn't realise this is just a soapbox thread. We were just trying to be helpful.

@saenglish Are you always this rude to people? You are the one that mentioned this " I was about to leave spark as their data plans for my mobile were less than I could get from other providers " and " so should expect to see the rolled over data grow quickly "

How was I meant to know you knew about the capped Rollover? Last time I checked I did not have a crystal ball and my mind reading skills are not up to scratch!

When I posted in this forum, It said this forum was for spark users. I posted here, to give other spark users the heads up that their bonus data might not be working in the way that they expected.  Yes in otherwords standing on my soapbox (I am short afterall) :-)  Not looking to change at the moment. They gave me something for 12 months, implies I am locked in(although will argue the goods didn't fit the description if I don't get a satisfactory answer).  :-)

I feel they've explained this well. They're not going to change something for one user.

I don't do the mobile side of the network (or billing for that matter) so I'm no expert here.

However, I am a user of spark services (along with Vodafone and 2D...)

Looking at my plan right at this moment, My Bonus data (1GB) has been used up first. After which my plans data allowance is burned down.

Rollover then comes out after that.

Ontop of all of this, My socialize burns down overtop of everything else. eg, my spotify usage goes off there while all the rest of the usage goes to the other places.

To me, this is functioning as expected.

As a consumer I'm not a fan of the 3.5GB limit (considering this is so minimal compared to my shared plan)

I didn't quite get it right before.   Here is the accurate info

As you can see my rollover data expires on the 11th and I have use 380MB,   My bonus data expires on the 21st and I have used none.

The obvious answer to this is to change my expiry date of the bonus data to being 1 day ahead of my rollover data, therefore for all but one day of the period the bonus data will be being used before the rollover data. I have put this to Spark and am waiting for a reply

You've made me go and check mine and yes I'm seeing the same thing. Rollover data expires tomorrow and I have used approx 1.2GB. Bonus data expires 3 April and I've used none of it. Does that then mean however, that after tomorrow's renewal of rollover data, my Bonus Data is next to expire, so will start using that? I shall check and see...

Yes, from what I have been told your bonus data will start being used from after tomorrow.

So you only get 10 days to use all bonus data?

How many days each person gets depends on gaps in expire dates.

Right ok. I get what your saying now.

@allan @saenglish please dm me account numbers so I've got examples. From here I'll speak to folks to see if it can't be done in a more customer logically expected approch.
