Hi

At my work the office uses the Spark Etext service to text people when their job is ready. About 2 weeks ago, a couple of the computers wouldn't go there. Kept getting "

Service Temporarily Unavailable

The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later."

I tried different web browsers & cleaning cache etc. No joy. Anyway, some days it works, others not. Had no joy with Spark. It's you, not us.

So used my Spark cellphone on cellular data and it works. Kill the cellular data and use the firms wifi and I get the 503 error message. So it is a problem with our 2 Degrees fibre connection I guess. Any ideas on this one? Doesn't really help that this is intermittant problem, but it isn't working on any of the computers today. Thanks in advance.

I can access the website from my 2D home fibre connection.

Maybe because you have multiple users logging in often, their website thinks your connection is causing a DDOS? Can you try with on of the problematic PC's on a separate connection?

Not easy to crank up another network as computers are all desktops. There are normally only 2 computers that use this service, so that shouldn't be the problem. We have been using etext for years.

My cellphone has never used this website in its life before, but won't work on firms wifi, works everywhere else.

And yet, I can't.

Something I did however notice is the site is running on dual stack IPv6/v4. IPv6 doesn't work and generates a "Service Temporarily Unavailable" page where IPv4 works fine.

Excellent troubleshooting! that's a key detail... this is one of the many reasons ipv6 complicates things.

when i'm back in the office, i'll ask about... specifically looking at the v6 connectivity (which also does fail here compared to V4)

@OP can you try over v4 and see if it's functional for you?

Well it's been a month, and we still have to have IVP6 turned off or it fails with Service Temporarily Unavailable. Not causing me any problem cause I know, but someone out there must be getting hacked off...

Doesn't surprise me - Spark don't understand IPv6...

The e text home page loads fine for me. And I have IPv6. Does e text only fail after you login on IPv6?

Maybe someone from Spark is reading this thread, and quickly fixed IPv6 support.

Will have to test later from a computer that has had ipv4 disabled. As there is no easy way to disable ipv4 on Android without root.

No, still no joy on my computer. The moment you enter the URL it fails. No login box or anything. Disable IPv6 and works every time.

Can also still confirm it is broken on IPv6.

Well done Spark!
