New plans from Spark. It's basically an unlimited* fibre/4G plan that charges you less if you use less data.

$65 0-60GB
$75 60-120GB
$85 120+GB

Fibre speed is 50/10 on Chorus or 30/10 on LFCs.
+$10 Fibre 100/20
+$25 Fibre 200/20
+$45 Fibre gigabit

+$10 Landline
+$10 Lightbox (and 6 months Netflix if not already redeemed)

12 month contract / $199 ETF

*If you're on 4G and you use more than 300GB in a single month or 180GB/month over 3 months you may be asked to change technology or leave.

Pretty good $10 saving if you don't want lightbox bundled, which I'm sure most people have but never use

It's actually quite a good idea, especially if you're away you end up paying less assuming usage drops off

Great idea!

Not much use to us though. Just looked at our last 9 months usage, and it averages out at 670 GB per month. But it'll be excellent for your average Internet user. No longer are their costs inflated due to data hogs like me. :-)

This is a great idea. My mother (very low use user) insists on being on an unlimited plan because she's worried about "excess charges if someone is staying and they use a lot of internet". There are obviously *many* things wrong with that statement but there's no reasoning with her. That one story in the newspaper she read 6 years ago about a different technology with a different plan in a different country has clearly left an impression.

This would be a great option for her; she'd only ever use the lowest pricing tier but has the comfort of risk-free over-usage if it ever comes to that.

I wonder is Spark will let my parent's change plan? Signed up to Fibre just over a week ago on an older plan, Fibre will take time to installed as parents are down a ROW and just trying to get the last consent.

This plan would be perfect for them.

Unfortunately the online systems need a bit more work as there are some major changes such as purchasing devices on IFP on this plan.

Unplan is offered at any fibre address, wireless it's offered in all urban cases except where there is low coverage.

If you want to get an adress checked out, i would recommend a quick chat.

That's exactly the idea :)
Removing the Netflix and lightbox from the baseplan would certainly be compelling to many that otherwise take different options.

Skinny is sparks no frills low cost offering.

Those who are purely after cost, would still be suited with skinny options.

i'd speak to the centre about making that change, should be possible. may just be a question of when - Depending on fibre install progress it may be a change once connected sorta case.

Good question, I'd love to migrate everyone.

but there are quite a few changes in the offering, so the existing plans don't directly translate.

A fresh works out quite nicely if your keen on any of the devices that come on IFP. Google Wifi and Apple TV being the two devices that would appeal the most to Geekzone members i'd say. (subject to change etc..)
