Hi,

A few weeks ago calls from my wife's phone (Skinny) starting to show up as Private Number for not good reason. TXT messages are identified correctly. She tried the SIM card on a different terminal with the same result so this doesn't seem to be the culprit. Skinny support recommended to buy a new SIM card and transfer the number to the new card but this didn't solve the issue either.

Any idea what else to try?

What brand of phone?

On Apple it’s settings, phone and there’s a show my caller ID option.

When selecting a circle goes round and round before it shows a slider for on and off, so maybe the setting is saved to Sim.

Edit: I put my phone into aeroplane mode and the circle went round and round, and slider never came up, so looks like turning show my caller ID off or on it needs cell phone network access. Nothing to do with SIM.

Check the phone settings as to whether this is enabled.

Dial *#31# and your phone will tell you whether caller ID restriction is enabled or disabled.

If it says enabled, dial #31# to turn restriction off e.g. show your caller ID again.

Thanks, it says Not restricted ( surprised that Skinny support didn't mention that anyway)

Odd - especially if it's happening in multiple devices (as some devices temporarily invoke caller-id restrictions per call) - DM me the number if you like and I'll double check our end. But it may pay to check the phone settings that nothing has been inadvertently activated (under your phone app in android, or settings on iOS).

My comments and remarks are not necessarily of my employer.

Thanks gajan. For some reason the Calling accounts settings don't show up, not sure if it always was this way.  The terminal is a Samsung J4 that comes with the Samsung phone app, I installed the Google Phone app but still can't find the Calling account settings

I'll DM you her number.

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

Solved thanks to gajan's advice. As suspected it didn't have anything to do wit the terminal but something at the service level.
