The Big Time trouble thread has gotten far too long and cluttered. I have created this thread for everyone to post their issues with Big Time but without the excess conversation.

This allows us to list our issues without any verbal rallying.

In this thread please only post if you:

1) Have a problem - Post the issue but nothing else
2) Have a update to a problem (ie has it been resolved?)
3) If you have a solution to the problem
4) Your Telecom

Nothing else.

This means our current issues are clearly visible to the Telecom employees that monitor this forum.

I must emphasise that you keep your posts clear and as short as possible without avoilding necessary detail.

I'll lead by example.

Problem:

Battlefield Bad Company 2 experiences frequent connection issues when connecting to EA in the US.

Steam is extremely slow to connect and update.

Steam content downloads are extremely slow.

If you update using the Microsoft or Apple update service the download speed is ok but as soon as you download a driver from HP, a browser from Mozilla or some other major website and the speed drops to dial up (5KBs) with it occasionally speeding up after 2am, and even after 2 am, don't assume you'll get close to your full speed.

I've decided to move to a normal plan (40GB Pro deal) after putting up with big time for over several months. It is quite clear that telecom doesn't give a toss as so far as providing the necessary bandwidth to allow everyone at least a modest download speed of 20KBs.

• Gmail won't load - must op for low bandwith option.
• Steam sloowto connect and update.
• Web pages slow to load up, international pages more so.
• Online games have excessive rubber banding.
• Downloads at very low speeds (5-10kb's).

Just to use this as an example, one might put this in the format like he suggested:

Downloading from HP, Mozilla and many other major websites is very slow (5kb/s). However sites using content distribution networks (Microsoft, Apple) are fine.

This sometimes speeds up after 2am however not even close to full speed

SSH & SSL are too slow to be usable. SSL sites load slower than dialup, and SSH becomes unresponsive (appears to have response packets discarded) for minutes at a time.

Steam can take ages (up to 30 minutes) to log in, and updates appear to be limited to dialup speeds or slower.

Halo for PC is unplayable (even on Aussie servers) due to warping and "rubber-banding".

Unable to play PS3 games online

Unable to login to gmail

facebook is so slow its practically unusuable

Unable to install applications like doubleTwist which need to download packages to complete installation.

Almost any site using https loads slower than dialup

Problem:

International download speed fluctuate between 0-5KB in peak time

International download speed fluctuate between 10-20KB in offpeak time

international pages take longer to load.

Software downloads from HP.com are slow, less than 9kb/s most times, which can result in 4 hr download time for a 100mb graphics driver.

Steam is slow and in some cases unresponsive when login

Steam downloads are less than 10kb/s most times

Banking websites are hit and miss when using internet banking, especially ANZ

Facebook is slow and has several timeouts

Bad Company 2 gameplay is useless in the evening especially to NZ servers connection dropouts, timeouts and in some cases login can be painful.

These are my main problems.

Problems:

*WoW would only have acceptable pings on certain servers, other servers were 10second plus pings. This resulted in me moving my character to a server that had a decent ping. This is def a BigTime issue.

*Have just purchased Bad Company 2 and can only connect/join a game once in about every 10 times. Friends of mine on different Telecom plans have no problems at all.

*The above two problems do relate to games and I know Big Time is not for games but with these cases it makes the games totally unplayable, ie I cant even connect to servers 90% of the time and if i can it is normally unplayable anyway with huge pings.

Problem:

Gmail doesn't load unless using slow connection

International web pages load but take ages national are pretty slow as well.

Fifa 2010 Xbox Live worse than it use to be now lags when playing NZ people.

Downloads are really slow sometimes speeds can be in bytes.

Gaming of any sort outside NZ is unusable.
Frequent disconnects when gaming in NZ due to EA master serves being US based.
Steam updates painfully slow.
VPN traffic painfully slow.
General http/ftp downloads run slower than dialup.

And yet torrents are still high speed *sigh*

Problems:

General HTTP downloading via web browser is abysmal - slower than or equal to dial up.

HTTPS slower than or equal to dial up. Usually just times out.

Live online streaming unusable. Buffers for 10 seconds, lucky to get 1 second of stream.
