Ive had erratic data problems with XT and my iphone 4 since Ive been on xt (2 years)

It'll display at least 3 bars of signal strength and data will be connected/active but nothing will happen when i try to use anything that uses cellular data=open a safari page and just get a white screen.
If i leave it running it MAY start working and data will start flowing but not always. Sometimes i'll have to switch to flight mode then switch back or restart the phone.

My XT access point settings are correct (iphone nz ap)

I decided to switch to 2degrees for a few months and discovered that it worked fine, no issues. (voda fine too)

Ive tried restoring the phone etc. purchased another XT sim card for it but still the same patchy performance

When it does work it works well.

Have you logged a call with 123?? which area are you in, have you checked my blog about where the nearest site is.  Or doesn't it matter where you are?

This is not normal behaviour for any phone. Have you contacted Vodafone on 0800 921 021 & logged a ticket with them?

They may beable to help you.

My friend who has a iPhone 4 on Xt doesn't have the same issue as me.

We can be in the same place using Xt data. My phone fails/stalls while his phone runs fine.

Have you contacted Telecom about this??

Sounds like it could be a fault with the device, rather than the network though.

As you should. If a similar device works in the same location/time and yours doesn't, it's more likely to be faulty hardware than the network.

Hi Johnr, I don't want to jack this thread, but I have provided at least 15-20 examples of these issues to vodafone support. In the end I was told to basically live with it (Egypt call center was the final straw for me). My business is out of contract with vodafone this month, so I will be talking with my feet.

Sorry I know this is the Telecom NZ thread but just need to clear something up with Evilg

You must be calling Egypt direct cause none of customers calls go off Shore for Fix line or mobile,

All Vodafone NZ call centre staff are based in 3 offices across Auckland

But they used to right? I haven't logged a fault in well over a year because I am sick of doing it and getting nowhere. I did eventually get passed on to an NZ call center, however they were completely unhelpful by telling me I was "in between cell phone towers, and the two towers were 'fighting' for my connection, hence the issues" - I didn't really buy that, as the issue happens pretty much anywhere.
