I have a TOSHIBA Portege R380 with Windows7 & built in 3G (Ericsson F5521GW) which work fine with a Vodafone Sim2 without Vodafone Mobile Connect software but won’t connect with a Telecom XT Sim.

Telecom NZ is listed in available network connections but I click on connect & it won’t connect stating an APN error. The APN is correct (internet.telecom.co.nz) so not sure if it’s the XT Sim or built in 3G hardware.

I purchase the XT Sim as part of a Mobile Broadband Kit which was a bundle deal (MF181 T-Stick + XT Sim + 2GB data) so I’m thinking it will only work in the T-Stick.

Want to get Telecom Mobile Broadband working so I can add it to my existing billing.

Are you sure that the 3G built in hardware is 850Mhz? A SIM is not locked to the mobile broadband device. So you should be able to put it in any device to use it.

Also another thing to try is the SIM working? Can you put it in a mobile phone and a) make a call; b) go to the internet on it?

Are you really sure you have set the APN?

As per this tread or this post  What do the following commands give you in hyperterminal?

at+cgeqreq?
at+cdgcont?

Since you might need to set the APN if you're not using the dialer provided.
