Are you sure the PPPoE session isn't dropping every 4 hours then it could be because you are mis-provisioned or an Anonymous user. It's worth contacting bigpipe and asking if they can check if you are properly provisioned and not Anonymous. 


cbrpilot or Talkiet any chance you could check these folks are anon or not. It would be really useful if someone would have built a site to let customers check if they were anon or not then they could click on a link and instantly see that was the reason.



As the poster continues data throughout I'd say its not a anon profile..

For a higher speed fibre plan would be dead obvious... But otherwise i can see the usecase...
Few potential options with the stuff from my side... Mvp a site to check is possible but I'd say that's rather clunky with better digital first options.

When I checked earlier this week there were a number of Bigpipe services (a very small proportion) that were coming up as "anonymous" - nearly all of them copper (ADSL/VDSL) services.  I know Bigpipe are actively working their way through all of those customers to fix this up.  As a customer you will experience this as a PPP kick every 4 hours exactly.  Most people wouldn't even notice this.  

 

If you feel this is happening to your line I'd encourage you to log a fault with Bigpipe and they will sort it even sooner than they otherwise would.  

 

If you are experiencing disconnections are more or less frequently than 4 hours exactly then this will not be your issue, and I'd encourage you to get in contact with Bigpipe to work through the root cause of the issue with you.

Thanks for the response to this. I have since had my issues resolved.
I had been in touch with Bigpipe and they said that they had altered something from their end. After a final router reset all seems to be working now.

Yea It has been working fine again for me the last 2 days, It was just the day of the transfer I was having lots of trouble. All I really changed was disabling the DNS proxy on my router, disabling it originally was causing more issues but by the next day it was fine. The DNS proxy was on by default and I never had any trouble until the switch over to spark. Everything seems back to normal now though.

Many who were on IPv6 also were using IPoE.

 

 

 

once migrated (which everyone is) PPPoE is the only option.
