Wow, xbox live was running sweet as tonight. No problems at all, I also found if a video on youtube is loading slow, press the HQ button a few times and it usually sorts it stuff out.

doozy: I can confirm, it is 100% not possible for any CSR to remove shaping via any method from a Big Time customer, they do not have access to any system capable of doing so (not that one actually exists).

The way traffic management is applied means it is not possible to single out someone on the plan and remove traffic shaping from them.

How do I know this? I am a product manager at Telecom for broadband and it is part of my job to 'look after' this plan.

Thanks for putting that stupid claim to rest, doozy.

Also, have you looked at my account lately to see how far from the exchange I am? You said you were going to get back to me.

Cheers/

Took me over 6 hours last night to download Ministry Of Sound - Annual 2010 from iTunes. Not cool.

It was going so well earlier in the week, internet is crawling for me at the moment.

Me and my mate were seriously so bored last night, we started a download of a torrent, and it crawled at 10kb/s most of the night, got to a high of 20. we started at 1am. when 2am came around, the minute it hit on the clock, speeds rocketed up. right from 10 allthe way up to 1mb/s. finished in no time. now its peak time. its slow again. ugh

Doozy: More peaktime bandwidth please.. we dont mind some slowdowns at peaktime but it should still function as broadband not dialup.

there are 2 chances we'd ever increase the speed of torrents during peak, slim and none

Hi Doozy.  Glad to see some one from Telecom here.  I was on Go large from the start to the finish and then changed to big time when it was offered.  I was delighted at first but since about the middle of last week it has turned to total rubbish.  EVERYTHING is slow.  Some pages won't even display, buffering galore on streaming video  (and radio). Downloads and virus updates now take forever.  Why has it suddenly turned to crap? Is there a problem some where or has the tap been just about fully closed?  Go large was honestly better than this and with all the hype about ADSL2 and me being close to a new cabinet, I was expecting far better than this.

Cheers

Everything is going fine here in hamilton.
Torrents are slow during peaktime on bigtime of course.. After all it is an unlimited plan !
No ISP is going to give you fullspeed during peaktime on unlimited for torrents !

They fly like you say after 2am, over 1mb/s here. I just queue them up after 10.30pm and leave them going and they are there when I wake up in the morning.
If you want speed 24/7 you may have to go off the bigtime plan onto an unshaped plan..

Speedtests right now:
Below is the data used to calculate your download speed:
Download time: 0.375 seconds
Size of file: 520 Kilobytes
Estimated line speed: 11315.2 (kilobits/second)
Estimated line speed: 1386.7 (kilobytes/second)
