So I am currently with Spark.

about 2 months ago I gave the ISP a warning that I was giving my 30 day notice but no switchover because I hadn't decided on an ISP.

Signed up to Skinny for 1st of December, waited for confirmation which they said it would be switched on 1st of Dec at 6am, contacted Spark to request the cancel my service on 30 November.

So today I thought it was strange I still had internet and landline so I contacted Spark and asked what time my service is supposed to be cancelled and they said 3:40pm which did happen with the landline but the internet is still on.

(Also chorus must have pushed out the speed upgrade because I went from 100/20 to 300/100 in the past day)

Anyway, should I be worried the internet is still connected? Or will they just use the same connection but switch it to Skinny without the need for disconnection from Spark?

Also I am switching from 100/20 to 900/400.

My cutover from 2degrees to skinny was scheduled for today which also did not happen. My 2degrees connection is still working. Luckily my monthly billing date with 2degrees is on 3rd of every month so Skinny still has couple of days to sort it out. I did jump on chat at 4.30pm to skinny and asked about the connection cutover as email from Skinny came in morning and said that cutover is scheduled for 12.45pm. The support CSR said they have emailed UFF with a query. Modem was only shipped out yesterday as well which will not arrive at earlier until tomorrow. Skinny had a whole month to get the modem delivered to me and I had to ask support CSR in chat couple of days ago which I think reminded them to send out the modem.

@billgates - something sounds funky with their provisioning process. Modem shipments for Spark and Skinny should be a largely automated affair.

Strange that people are getting their modems late. When I signed up a month ago the modem appeared the next day even though my switchover was a month later.

Although I do remember my sister saying something about talking to the CSR when she was signing up and they said there was a shortage of modems and they were waiting on a shipment from China.

My modem wasn't sent until I was connected. Definitely doesn't seem like an automated process, and there definitely isn't anything in place to ensure customers receive their modem prior to connection.

Didn't affect me though as I used my existing router.

Seems quite strange that they insist on people using a Skinny supplied modem, but don't send the modem ahead of the actual connection going live.

What is the end date of a 12 month internet contract?

My ISP mentions that my start of contact is the day the internet service is started, but I can't find the definition for the end of contract day.

So I started on 3 March 2021 and I would think my contact end would be 3 March 2022.

@billgates it just was a payment/disconnection timing issue with 2degrees, so they have reversed the charge. So it was just over a week from go to woah with the 2d->Skinny process

Funnily enough I have been connected since Sunday, yet according the the Skinny online portal, I'm still waiting to be connected. And my Skinny router has yet to show...

But the ER4 is doin' just fine, and as a bonus, I finally managed to setup Wireguard access from my phone. Just need to sort out the DDNS portion of that arrangement now.

Thanks @ShinyChrome

Did you had to change the ONT port to 2 for Skinny connection to work or Skinny is working on ONT port 1 on which 2degrees was originally working? I wonder if I have been switched over but on ONT port 2 while 2degrees connection is still working on port 1 and Skinny may not have requested disconnection properly to 2degrees or 2degrees have not disconnected me yet from their end.

No changes for the ONT, only just configuration changes to the router (in my case, removing the old vif10 interface and recreating the pppoe0 interface on eth0).

I wonder if that was because I had the connection/disconnection set for the same day, and let Skinny handle the comms with 2degrees.

Have Skinny confirmed that the connection is in place? Is it possible to try the second ONT port, just for a lark?

Edit: re-read your earlier message and see you did the same

No internet this morning as expected.

Swapped the modems and by the time I'd added the password to my phone the light was green and I had internet again.

Too easy.

I was connected today.

I was on spark modem so just turned off the 802.11 Q or whatever and replaced the username and password.

Rest of the settings didn't need changing as they were already set.

currently only connecting to speedtest via wifi at 500/300 but that might be hardware limitations, will try wired soon.
